Hong Kong Pavilion at 2019 Pop Up Asia ( 14 -17 Nov 2019)

A Hong Kong thematic pavilion, supported by the Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office, was staged at the 2019 PoP Up Asia between 14 and 17 November. The pavilion, adopting the design concept of traditional markets in Hong Kong, showcased the distinct cultural characteristics of Hong Kong, featuring long-established stores, shops with special characteristics, and handicraftsmen’s products.

Several workshops were held at the pavilion to enable the public to experience the traditional skills and handcraft arts in Hong Kong, including embroidered shoes, minibus sign calligraphy, making of wooden watches and temari ball hanging ornaments, etc. Moreover, through hosting sharing sessions, young craftsmen from both Hong Kong and Taiwan exchanged views on the development of handcraft brands, experiences in starting their businesses, and conservation of independent small stores, with a view to enhancing Taiwan public's understanding in the development of handcraft industry and conservation of cultures in the two places.
