"Old Town Central" Cultural Tourism Promotion Programme (April to May 2017)

The Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office supported the Hong Kong Tourism Board Taiwan Branch in launching a cultural tourism promotion programme entitled “Old Town Central” to invite the people of Taiwan to explore Central and Sheung Wan which were characterised by a blend of old and modern and of the East and the West, and local culture and life. The promotion included the publication of 60 000 copies of “Old Town Central – Self-guided Walks in the Heart of Hong Kong” for free distribution through media, tourism industry, restaurants and coffee shops etc. The booklet highlighted the historical buildings, arts and culture, delicacies and small shops with a cultural and creative identity in Central and Sheung Wan. Recommendations of Taiwan residents in Hong Kong were also included. Moreover, an array of online video clips were produced in collaboration with famous key opinion leaders in Taiwan such as cyberspace writers and bloggers, comic artists, artistes and Taiwan residents in Hong Kong.
