Hong Kong Theatre Space performed "Checkmate" in Tainan on 6 and 7 June. The play won the "Best Script Award" and the "Top Ten Most Popular Productions" at the 24th Hong Kong Drama Awards. It took part in the 2015 Tainan Arts Festival under the support of the Art Development Fund of Hong Kong. Lai Ching-te, Mayor of Tainan City, and Henry Lai, Deputy Director of Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office (HKETCO), attended the first performance on 6 June. HKETCO also distributed publicity materials about Hong Kong at the venue.
